Welcome again to the GameGuru weekly news.
We have more updates to report as we’ve continued with a wave of improvements. Two updates last week with each one aimed at improving some very important areas. We also report on an exciting new multiplayer feature coming very soon. So…
Multiplayer mayhem teams up!
One the the most fun additions in the last week, both for the development team to add as well as play test has been the new Team Deathmatch feature. No longer will users be restricted to single player carnage, now you’ll be able to join a team to fight it out. Supporting up to 2 teams of 4, the default setting will be the first team to reach 30 kills being declared the winner. Level designers will also be able to toggle friendly fire for those who feel their level isn’t dangerous enough.
We’re on the final stages of testing now and expect this great addition to be with all users early any day this week!
Tutorials
To support our multiplayer development, Rick has created this very useful guide to hosting and joining multiplayer games, so click below to learn everything you’ve ever needed to joining the multiplayer fun in GameGuru. The servers are open 24/7 and users are often online hosting or waiting to participate in a game, so why not get involved?
Don’t forget you can see all of the other tutorials created by GameGuru users as well as the development team here.
Now that GameGuru has gone live on Steam and is in the hands of many capable users, we wanted to take a moment and unveil a new reward for the GameGuru Community: User of the Month Badge!
This monthly Award is bestowed upon one user in the Community who has shown not only exceptional knowledge of GameGuru but has also got involved more deeply with the GameGuru community as a whole. The bearer of this Badge will be someone to look up to, someone who is not only open to any and all questions but also willing to help users whenever they can.
The benefits of User of the Month
1) A unique badge (next to your avatar), to show the GameGuru community your elevated status, dedication and support of GameGuru developers.
2) 5,000 GameGuru Store Points!
The User of the Month will be chosen by the TheGameCreators Team each month. The holder of this Badge will be selected because of their consistent and exceptional behavior with other community members as well as their GameGuru knowledge and unending desire to help others. There can be only one badge holder at a time, so the torch will be passed at the end of each month to the next User of the Month. We hope you will join us, in congratulating each month’s winner of this important Community Award!
This months Winner is….
SmallG for his/her excellent and continued support of the community and valued scripting advice, we will be contacting them shortly to arrange the 5,000 store points.
Here is a small example of the helpfulness they have provided to the community.
Congratulations SmallG and many thanks for everything you do for our community.
From the Galleries
This week we’ve chosen two screenshots from the Steam Artwork Zone, we’re always very impressed but these two stood out as something extra special, one as a beautiful screenshot and the other as some very impressive concept art.
An amazing screenshot: Night City Docks – By Rolfy proves yet again why he is becoming a GameGuru master!
The next contribution is by Nameguy and is a wonderful use of the Steam artwork feature. This user has created a great concept map for their planned game, you can also see some screenshots from the work so far on the Steam gallery.
From the store
A lot of new media has been uploaded over the last few weeks, some of which we’ve already showcased, but we thought we’d give you a little more information about some of these great packs and assets by showing you some screenshots of the them in situ.
Abandoned Terra-forming Plant by Wolf
Wolf says:
This Model pack contains everything you need to design futuristic sci-fi colonies /camps.
They fit well in GameGurus’ terrain system and are gorgeous to design complex skylines.
The Pack features enough variation to even create little sci-fi towns.
This pack has leaned on retro-futuristic designs from the 70s and 80s but I kept it contemporary enough to fit in a more modern vision of the future.
Please note that while the focus of the pack was on worn and rusty assets I have also included a large amount of clean entities for games that are set in a brighter future!
World War 2 assets pack #2 by BSP
Part of BSP’s growing range of WW2 themed media, this pack is focused on indoor items. A total of 71 models, including bunker & chateau furniture and paintings, which you will find useful in not only World War 2 styled games, but a large number of more modern genres.
ErrantAI has a number of great packs on the store, the scene above was created from 3 of his packs, Billards Pack, Snack Attack Pack and his latest, Fibre Glass furniture pack.
All are excellent value and are valuable resource for any GameGuru user.
