Welcome to another weekly GameGuru news update. As many of you will be aware, we released V1.003 at the end of last week, we’re pleased to say it’s been well received.
We’re checking out the latest feedback from the GameGuru and Steam forums and we will be fixing a couple of things based on your responses before moving onto the long awaited task of optimisations. In fact we released a small update today that fixed an issue for standalone games. We’re looking forward to the performance work ahead of us and we’re sure you’ll be please with the results when we release V1.004!

Store News
We’ve hit another big GameGuru store milestone this week, we now have over 5,000 models, scripts and audio files now available for sale or as free downloads. Thank you to all the great artists and musicians who are helping us create a creative and content rich game making system.
We’ve also listened to your feedback and made a number of improvements to the store front end which we hope will make the store even easier to use for all of you. The new site design launched on Friday last week and we’ll be making a number of improvements as we move forward.
This week we’d like to remind you all about this excellent SciFi walls pack by Wizard Of Id – Featuring a selection of walls ideal for a futuristic city or fortress.
Another great pack that you might have forgotten about are these static scifi gun turrets by JForthDesigns. Ideal for adding atmosphere to any game based in the future and available in six variations.
Lastly, we are showcasing this nuclear missile pack from store artist Nomis3D lets you build your ever own weapon of mass destruction.

Competition News
We’re pleased to announce our 8th GameGuru competition.
This time, we’re asking you to come up with the most imaginative custom face using the new Character Creator import a face feature and we’ll be awarding the best FIVE entries 3,000 store points.
There’s no restrictions on what kind of face you make but we’ll be judging on originality, quality and entertainment.
To enter, all you need to do is create your face, upload it to the gallery and send us the link and a copy of the character. (Located in the custom Character Creator folder).
Best of luck to everyone and we’re looking forward to seeing what our talented users can come up with.
The Rules
1) You may only use public domain or custom images, you may be required to prove usage rights.
2) Please email the image link and the custom character to Dave Hawkins at davehawkins@thegamecreators.com
Ensure you use the format USER – FORUM -COMPETITION8 e.g thescenecommander-GameGuru- competition8 in the subject line.
Entries that do not meet this criteria will be disqualified.
3) You must include the following information in your email.
3.1) Your real name
3.2) A valid email for your TGC account so we can award prizes.
4) All entries must be received by midnight GMT 31st July 2015.
5) This competition is not open to any member of TheGameCreators staff or support team.
6) You may enter as many times as you like, but remember quality is better than quantity.
7) The competition will be judged by at least two members of TheGameCreators staff and their decision will be final.
GameGuru Latest
As we mentioned earlier, GameGuru V1.003 launched last week with a host of tweaks and fixes as well as the great addition of the new face changer feature for the Character Creator. We’ve also added some new Character Creator media in the shape of a suit of armour and new some head variations. Add to this the fix that enables users to alter the colour of hair and head wear and we can expect to see a lot of fun new characters hitting your games soon.
We’ve made many, many changes and you can find details of them all in the changelog located in your main GameGuru folder however, here are a few of the highlights.
- Fixed all marker entities so they no longer Z clash with terrain & floors
- Added new WIZARD EVIL and WIZARD ROYAL to the character assets
- Increased speed of APPLY CHANGES in Entity Properties (activemouse detection)
- If no water exposed in terrain, test game will skip water mask generation
- Fixed issue of shotgun loading two shells when only one remained
- You can now create your own custom character faces for both male and female by choosing and adjusting an image
- New hair and hats have been added to Character Creator
- Replaced CHECKING FOR FILES with full status progress text (catch any issues)
- Fixed issue with POST PROCESS shader using fixed DOF render size (now adapts)
- Prevented character AI from using ANIMSPEED of zero, reverts to 100 by default
- A new selection of male and female heads and head attachments have been added to Character Creator
- To solve ancient BIN file issue, all entities reset the BIN each time they load
