Another week dawns, and due to a public holiday across most of Europe, a slightly later news bulletin than normal.
By now most of you will have grabbed GameGuru V1, which introduced the start of 3rd person and the character creator. We’ve already released our first update to it, improving on these features as well as fixing a rare but annoying crash for a limited number of users on lower end machines.
We’re also spending the week planning as well as developing, so we’ll be looking at the next exciting range off tweaks, fixes and updates based on popular demand and just a little common sense.
In the meantime, here’s a little screenshot from a game being developed by an internal team member to hopefully inspire all you budding creators. If you think Fallout meets Doom you’re on the right track with where the game is heading.

From the Gallery
This week, we’re taking a look at some of the great uploads to Steam.
The always excellent Rolfy has once again impressed us with a wonderful woodland scene, showing fog and clever lighting to great effect.
This also caught our eye, we don’t normally feature videos in this section, but the amazing work of JForthDesigns is clearly worth a showcase. This custom cartoon media looks great, and just show how different a GameGuru game can look with a change of genre.
Store News
A lot of exciting new media has been uploaded in the last week or so, and I’m sure you’ll find something that you will count as a must have.
This excellent Beach Assault pack from newcomer Pasquil is obviously ideal for WW2 games, but we can see a much wider range genres that this media would benefit. Shown in the screenshot below is also some of Rolfy’s animated waves media that complements the beach assault pack perfectly.
If you’re looking for critters, artist Dagored has added to his range with this very useful attack dog. Great for many games covering almost all genres.
Also from the same artist, this creepy zombie hand is ideal for your horror games.

- Stopped third person stuttering if you hold down left mouse button
- Fixed issue where facial hair color would reset for characters in the editor after using Character Creator
- Fixed an issue when using test or starting multiplayer whilst using Character Creator or the Importer
- When choosing skin tone you can now decide to not choose a colour by clicking outside the color palette, or select “none” from inside the palette
- Fixed an issue that would prevent GameGuru from starting up on some machines
I’m sure you’re all keen to know what the next build has in store, and I can confirm that we’ve already made some improvements to the editor in free flight mode as well as adding some hotkeys to the widget to make the whole experience more consistent. In addition to this we’ve improved 3rd person control and fixed a bug preventing 3rd person from being killed in an explosion.
We’ve also made some improvements to projectiles to add to the types available, we’ll reveal more on this soon.
